LUDINGTON — Wally Taranko and Ryan Cox will be on the November ballot as candidates for mayor. Taranko received 450 votes while Cox received 375. Pete Engblade received 192 and Dave Kosla, 97. The general election will take place Nov. 5.

Mason County voters approve WSCC millage renewal

LUDINGTON — Mason County voters overwhelmingly approved the renewal of West Shore Community College’s operating budget. The proposal, allowing the college to levy .7062 mill, received 1,712 yes votes vs. 560 no votes in 22 precincts. The millage is for eight years; it is expected to raise almost $2 million for the college in 2014.

CUSTER — Mason County Eastern Public School voters approved a 19.2595 mill renewal for the next 20 years. The district is allowed to tax properties except principal residences and other property exempted by law. It is expected to raise approximately $1 million in revenue for the district in 2013.

LUDINGTON — An 18-year-old Muskegon resident has been arrested by the Mason County Sheriff’s Office for criminal sexual conduct. Joseph Cantu was arraigned Monday on the charges of CSC fourth degree.
