SCOTTVILLE — Firefighters from Scottville and Custer fire departments extinguish a garage fire at 117 W. State St. Sunday night. The fire was reported about 6 p.m. Upon arriving the unattached structure was fully engulfed. The garage appeared to be a total loss. Firefighters expected to be on scene for another hour.

LUDINGTON — The preliminary court examination of Robert Crane Bacon has been adjourned, according to Prosecutor Paul Spaniola. Bacon is accused of embezzling over $96,000 from Mason County Eastern schools while he was employed as the district’s business manager.
