Employment Opportunity: Journalist
Do you have a nose for news and want a part-time job with flexible hours?
Mason County Press and Oceana County Press seek a part-time journalist to cover the news 10-20 hours per week. Most assignments will take place in Mason County, but there will also be occasional assignments in Oceana County. Assignments will include general news reporting (including coverage of local governments and boards of education), education feature stories, and human interest stories.
- Journalism experience is ideal but we can also train the right candidate.
Musts:
- Must live in Mason County.
- Good writing skills.
- Good people skills.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to interview people in diverse situations (including tragedies).
- Willingness to cover breaking news.
- Willingness to work flexible times of day and days of the week (there is no set schedule)
- Willingness to carry a pager, monitoring emergency channels.
- Your own transportation and a general understanding of Mason and Oceana geography.
- Your own computer, smart phone and access to the internet.
Bonuses:
- Photography experience.
- Videography experience.
- Video editing experience.
- Understanding of local government.
