LUDINGTON — The Edwin H. Ewing Unit 76 American Legion Auxiliary will be collecting items for Wilwin Lodge at Cygnet Cove on Sunday, April 13 and Monday, April 14, 2025. Items may be dropped from noon to 8 p.m. at the American Legion Post #76, 318 N. James St.. by placing items on the table in back room. Non members will need to push the door buzzer for entry.
Wilwin Lodge at Cygnet Cove, located on 1,100 acres that include Woodruff Lake in Custer Township, is a retreat established to provide a sanctuary for rest and recuperation for disabled combat veterans: to offer a place for reuniting and reconnecting families after military deployments; and to provide therapeutic and recreational activities adding in the healing process for post traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury patients.
The facility is owned and operated by the Michigan American Legion.
Items in need:
Bedding: Bed pillows, extra-large twin sheets, extra-large twin mattress pad covers, queen sheets, queen mattress pad covers.
Towels: Bath towels (not white), hand towels (not white), washcloths (not white), cotton kitchen towels, dish clothes.
Outdoors: Bird feeders, bird seed, suet cakes, 20-pound propane tanks, Blackstone grills, outdoor entry mats.
Cleaning supplies: Pump hand soap, Dawn dish soap power wash, disinfectant wipes, shower cleaner, lime-rust remover.
Kitchen/bathroom: Shower curtains, shower liners, non-padded bathmats, bedside lamps, kitchen wastebaskets, bedroom/bathroom waste baskets.
Miscellaneous: Sofa throws, washable entry rugs, large square laundry baskets, LED light bulbs, AA batteries, AAA batteries, wall clocks.
