LUDINGTON — The following were recently arraigned in Mason County’s 79^th District Court:

Felonies

Sweet

-Margaret Ann Sweet, 68; possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine/ecstasy); arrested March 7 by Ludington Police Department; arraigned March 25; preliminary hearing: April 9; bail: $10,000 cash.

Crump

-Sylvesta LaVonn Crump, 23; possession of a controlled substance (narcotics/cocaine); arrested March 19 by Mason County Sheriff’s Office; arraigned March 20; preliminary hearing: April 9; bail: $5,000 personal recognizance.

Alvesteffer

-Blake Thomas Alvesteffer, 27; possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine/ecstasy), driving while license suspended second- offense, failure to maintain security (no car insurance), and operating an unregistered; arrested March 24 by Ludington Police Department; arraigned March 25; preliminary hearing: April 9; bail: $10,000 cash.

Case

-Donald Gene Case, 51; possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine/ecstasy), possession of a controlled substance (narcotic/cocaine), and possession of a dangerous weapon; arrested March 18 by Ludington Police Department; arraigned March 25; preliminary hearing: April 9; bail: $10,000/10 percent.

LaPorte

-Joshua Chrystian Henry LaPorte, 21; second-degree home invasion, assault with a dangerous weapon, and domestic violence; arrested March 24 by Michigan State Police; arraigned March 26; preliminary hearing: April 16; bail: $5,000 personal recognizance.

Achenbach

-Austin Taylor Achenbach, 27; third-degree child abuse; arrested March 25 by Ludington Police Department; arraigned March 26; preliminary hearing: April 16; bail: $5,000 personal recognizance.

Alexander

-Scott David Alexander, 63; third offense operating a vehicle while under the influence of liquor and driving while license suspended; arrested March 25 by Michigan State Police; arraigned March 26; preliminary hearing: April 16; bail: $50,000 cash.

Misdemeanors

-Melvin Todd Maier, 60; failure to report an accident; charged Nov. 13, 2024 by Ludington Police Department; arraigned March 20; pretrial: April 7; bail: personal recognizance.

-Tara Rochelle Monnot, 50; assault and battery and disorderly person disturbing the peace; arrested March 1 by Mason County Sheriff’s Office; arraigned March 21; pretrial: April 7; bail: $500 personal recognizance.

-Jeremy Ray Parker, 45; domestic violence; arrested March 12 by Mason County Sheriff’s Office; arraigned March 24; pretrial: April 7; bail: $500 personal recognizance.

-Nicholas Gene Helfrich, 35; operating a vehicle while intoxicated and two counts of fourth-degree child abuse; arrested March 22 by Ludington Police Department; arraigned March 24; pretrial: April 7; bail: $250/10 percent.

-Kip Ivran McCray, 52; operating without a license; charged March 2 by Mason County Sheriff’s Office; arraigned March 20; pretrial: April 7; bail: personal recognizance.

-Anthony Lee Schindlbeck, 38; transporting an open intoxicant in a motor vehicle; charged March 4 by Mason County Sheriff’s Office; arraigned March 20; pleaded guilty.

-Christopher Douglas, 42; driving while license suspended; charged Feb. 18 by Ludington Police Department; arraigned March 20; pretrial: April 7; bail: personal recognizance.
