
Roger Leonard
Roger A. Leonard, 58, of Ludington passed away on Friday, March 7, 2025. Roger was born on August 18, 1966 in Ludington, the son of Richard and Carol (Davis) Leonard and graduated from Mason County Central High School with the class of 1985. As a student of MCC, Roger loved sports and served as a student manager for many of the sports teams during his middle school and high school years. As a person living with disabilities, he also attended Ludington schools special education programs.
Roger was a sports enthusiast and literally grew up at the ballparks in Mason County, cheering on his dad during his softball playing days. He was the Detroit Tigers’ No. 1 fan in Mason County and also routed for the Detroit Lions, the Chicago Bears, and the University of Michigan – Go Blue!
Roger worked at Straits Steel and Wire in Ludington for many years, and also worked for House of Flavors Ice Cream along with a few other odd jobs around the area. When he was able, he enjoyed hanging out with his buddies – often shooting pool at the local pool halls in Scottville and Ludington.
Roger was preceded in death by his mother, Carol Leonard, and his son, Casey McNamara.
Roger will be greatly missed by his father, Rich Leonard; his sister Renee (Bill) Olenchak; his niece Holly (Jarret) Deisch and his great-niece Nora.
Roger will be laid to rest at Scottville Brookside Cemetery later this spring. Those who would like to remember Roger with a memorial donation are asked to please consider the Mason County Sports Hall of Fame.
