Classic car tour will make Ludington a stop in June

February 17, 2025

LUDINGTON — Approximately 400 people in 250 classic cars are expected to visit Ludington as part of a six-day driving tour via backroads to four overnight destinations in Michigan. In previous tours, there have been cars from every generation participating: Model Ts to Rat Rods, convertibles to trucks, Camaros to Corvettes, and even electric vehicles making their way on the tour.

Back to the Bricks Sunset Promo Tour drivers will arrive in Ludington on Monday, June 9, participating in a car show open to the public on South James Street before spending the night in Ludington. The street will be open to pedestrian traffic only for this new event, which will run from 3 to 7 p.m.

Free and open to the public, the show in downtown Ludington will also include a live performance by Barely Devils.

This is the 15th year for the Back to the Bricks Sunset Tour, and car owners plan to take sunset photographs with Stearns Park Beach, the North Breakwater Lighthouse and Lake Michigan as a backdrop. Ludington is one of five Michigan stops on the promo tour, which also include West Branch, Traverse City, Frankfort, and Mt. Pleasant from June 6-11.

“This year’s tour will be hitting the west coast of Michigan with some amazing stops,” Pete Cimbala, chairman of the Back to the Bricks Tour said. “The cities are all excited, and we are looking forward to three car shows almost on the beach, but for sure seeing the water.”

Participants will enjoy eateries, shopping, and more along the tour, with some amazing sunsets.

“Downtown Ludington will be a perfect backdrop for the show,” said Thom Hawley, chairman of the Downtown Development Authority. “Michigan has a love affair with cars, and it will be an incredible opportunity to explore our downtown businesses while viewing so many unique classic cars.”
