Obituary: Dorothy Caroline Cartier, 101, of Ludington

Dorothy Caroline Cartier, 101, of Ludington passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, February 4, 2025. She was born October 7, 1923, to Joseph Mrofka and Caroline (Paszczak) Benesh, in Chicago.

Dorothy first met Robert Bonnville, and the two fell in love, getting married in 1943. Together, they built a beautiful life, raising three sons and a daughter. After their time together, Dorothy found love again and remarried James H. Cartier in 1971.

Dorothy had a passion for bowling and crocheting, and her love for music, especially Elvis Presley, was unmistakable. She was always up for a road trip, and nothing made her happier than her weekly family dinners and card nights. Dorothy loved to play bingo at the local hall, her competitive spirit really came to life and her spunk was always on full display while playing.

Dorothy is survived by: her children, Dennis (Mary Lou) Bonnville, Robert (Donna) Bonnville, Jr., Susan (Dieter ) Muralt, and Dale (Marcia) Bonnville; sister, Geraldine Krick; sister in law, Noreen Benesh; numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Dorothy was preceded in death by:  her parents, Joseph Mrofka and Caroline (Paszczak) Benesh; brothers, John Mrofka and Richard Benesh; and sister, Josephine (Mrofka) Ackerman.

A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, February 13, 2025, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, Pere Marquette Chapel, 309 S. Washington St. Ludington. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery of Ludington.
