VICTORY TOWNSHIP — Members of the Ludington Area Curling Club get together at West Shore Community Ice Arena on Sundays to throw some stones. The group’s members wants to share their enthusiasm for the sport is hosting a Learn to Curl class on Sunday, Dec. 15. The cost is $20 per person — payable to the ice arena — the fee includes personal instruction on how to throw curling stones, sweep, game strategy and the rules of the game. more information contact the club at ludingtoncurling@gmail.com
“We’re really just hoping to get more people to try it out and gain interest in the sport,” said Dani McGarry, a Ludington Area Curling Club board member.
Participants are encouraged to dress warm and have a clean pair of gym shoes to change into. All other equipment will be provided.
“We have some people who like to learn the traditional method of throwing stones, in a low glide on the ice, and others that use the stick-throwing method, similar to shuffleboard. It’s really adaptable,” McGarry said.
