Elizabeth “Bettye” Mae Tyron, 77, of Ludington, passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2024.

Bettye was born on June 25, 1947 in Cherry Point NC, the daughter of Robert and Nadine (Rossiter) Lewis. She graduated from Oak Park High School in Illinois and received her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Michigan State University. On June 13, 1970, Bettye married the love of her life, Tom Tyron.

Bettye was a co-owner of Pelter Apartments but her true passion was teaching special education for Mason County ISD and Michigan School for the Blind. She retired from teaching in 2006 after 32 years of dedicated service.

Bettye was a supporter of Mason County Life Recovery and a super fan of her daughter and son-in-law. She enjoyed reading, putting puzzles together, taking long scenic drives, and watching gymnastics, ice skating, and softball.

Bettye is survived by her husband of 54 years, Tom Tyron; daughter, Shandrika Michelle (Jason) Miney; brothers, David (Jackie) Lewis and Dr. Steven (Cindy Turlinton) Lewis; brother-in-law, Patrick (Diane) Tyron; and numerous nieces and nephews. Bettye’s parents preceded her in death.

There are no services planned. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Michigan.
