Obituary: Gerald Miller, 91, of Ludington

Jerry Miller

Gerald Eugene Miller, 91, of Ludington, passed away on Monday, November 18, 2024.

Jerry was born on August 24, 1933, the son of the late Walter and Anne (Gallivan) Miller. In 1952, he graduated from St. Francis High School. On May 9, 1953, he married his forever love, Geraldine Marie (Popp) Miller. Days later, on May 14, 1953, he was drafted into the United States Army, where he served as a cook in the Korean War. He was recalled into the service during the Cuban Missile Crisis. After being honorably discharged, Jerry found a career within the United States Postal Service. In 1988, after over 30 years, he retired as a postmaster. He was a member of the Rotary Club, Knights of Colombus, and the American Legion.

Jerry loved the outdoors. He could be found hunting or fishing, tending to his garden, and beekeeping. He also enjoyed antiquing, repairing clocks, and traveling. Socially, he loved parties, golf, coffee clutches, and spending time with his beloved family.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Geraldine Miller; son, Frederick (Nancy) Miller; daughter, Jennifer (Dan Reum) Miller; grandchildren, Kathryn (Andre Debois) Vitale, Madalyn Miller, Alysson (Robert) Griffin, Jessica (Erich Kopp) Reum, Eric (Jacqueline) Reum, and Alayna Reum; along with great grandchildren, Theo Kopp, Amelia Griffin, Elizabeth Miller, Carter Reiman, Jackson Vitale, Cora Vitale, and Justin Debois.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Patricia Plumley and Dorothy King; and brother, Walter Miller.

A memorial service with Military Honors will be held on Monday, November 25, 2024, at noon at Oak Grove Funeral Home of Ludington, with visitation starting at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Post 76, or Community Foundation for Mason County (Greater Mason County Fund).
