William T. “Bill” Hopkins, 71, of Scottville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening October 16, 2024 at his home in Scottville surrounded by his family. Bill was born on December 15, 1952 in Kalamazoo, one of three children to William L. and Arlene (Weber) Hopkins and graduated from Portage Central High school in 1971.  Following school, he was drafted into the Army 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell in Kentucky where he held the rank of a specialist and specialized in the Vulcan anti-aircraft gun. Bill drove semi-truck for over 48 years hauling a wide variety of freight from cold foods to paper.

Bill enjoyed being outside and was always found golfing, hunting, attending his daughters rodeos, or kayaking with family and friends.  He enjoyed sitting on his porch watching nature and on Sundays cheering on (yelling at) his favorite team the Detroit Lions.

Bill is survived by his wife of 34 years, Cindy (Badke) Hopkins, and their daughter, Haley (Michael) Saya; his three daughters with Deb Smith: Teresa (Marc) Morocco, Stacy Hopkins, and Melissa (Doug) Barnes.  Bill has one surviving brother Ken (Diane) Hopkins, and his brother-in-law Kim, (Liz) Badke.  He also has four surviving grandchildren, Ariana (Eddy) Campbell, Ty and Carson Barnes, and JJ Hopkins as well as a niece and several nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents William and Arlene Hopkins; and sister Bonnie.

He will be missed by all his family, friends and loved ones.

Graveside services will take place at the Riverside Cemetery in Custer Township at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, November 10, 2024. Immediately following the ceremony, a celebration of life including a luncheon will be held at the Custer VFW Post 5096 between 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
