VICTORY TOWNSHIP — West Shore Community College will host Early Childhood Summit 2024 on Friday, Sept. 27 and Saturday, Sept. 28 at the Center Stage Theater located in the college’s Arts & Sciences Building. The two day event will bring together educators, caregivers, and advocates for early childhood education, providing invaluable insights and tools to invigorate our early care community.
The summit will feature prominent keynote speakers, including renowned educator Gerry Brooks and award-winning musician and author Jim Gill. Brooks will deliver the opening keynote on Friday, while Gill will provide an engaging afternoon keynote both days, offering participants dynamic and interactive learning opportunities.
- Friday, Sept. 27:
- 9 to 10:45 a.m.: Opening keynote address by Gerry Brooks
- 11 a.m. to noon: Breakout sessions
- 1 to 2:30 p.m.: Afternoon keynote address by Jim Gill
- 2:30 to 3 p.m.: Closing remarks
- Saturday, Sept. 28:
- 9 to 10:45 a.m.: Opening keynote address by Sally Haughey
- 11 a.m. to noon: Breakout sessions
- 1 to 2:30 p.m.: Afternoon keynote address by Jim Gill
- 2:30 to 3 p.m.: Closing remarks
In addition to in-person sessions, virtual options will be available, including a three-part webinar series with Barbara Kaiser, focusing on strategies for supporting young children’s emotional and behavioral development.
The event is made possible in part through a grant awarded by the Michigan Department of Education and aims to strengthen the early childhood community in Michigan.
