Gloria Wilson
Gloria Jean Wilson, 76, of Ludington, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, September 8, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 13, 1947, in Highland Park, the daughter of William and Mildred (Bisko) Wilson.
After graduating from Royal Oak Kimball High School Gloria attended college while working at Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital. She began at Beaumont as a co-op student where she continued to work for 43 years until retiring in 2006.
Gloria and her loving spouse Sherry made their commitment vows on May 29, 1993, and were later married at the People’s Church in Ludington on August 24, 2015.
Gloria was known for her loving, kind, and caring personality and her quick-witted humor. She lived life with passion. She loved playing softball in her youth and often occupied her time in therapy enjoying women’s softball games. Gloria loved dancing, even working as a go-go dancer in the 60s, earning enough to buy her first car. In her retirement years she and Sherry enjoyed traveling, getting together with family and friends, and just sharing a loving life together.
Gloria enjoyed the last 17 years living in Ludington where she met many great people. She was especially grateful to have in her life the Ronald and Michele Fargo family, the Dennis and Amy Pider family, and Denny Fast and Christine Reed-Fast.
The family would like to thank Rose and Diane, her home care nurses, and Christy, her home care therapist, all the staff at Corewell Crane Cancer Center, and the Corewell Palliative Care and Hospice staff. Their comforting kindnesses made a difficult time easier to bear.
Gloria is survived by her loving spouse Sherry Saites. She is also survived by: sisters-in-law, Nicolette (Frank) and Victoria (Mark); brothers-in-law, Michael and Nicholas (Ally); nieces, Elizabeth, Allison, Jessica, and Kimberly (Thomas); nephews, Todd (Erin), Nicholas, and Alexander (Kyle); great-nieces Devyn, Haley, and Lilly; great-nephews, Gage and Dallas. She was also blessed with her ‘sisters’, Connie Case and Suzanne Shea.
Gloria was preceded by her parents; and her paternal grandparents, Loma Mae (Jackson) and Cadena Bertron Willis. Gloria and her grandparents had an especially close and loving relationship, nurtured through the years when they helped to raise her.
A celebration of Gloria’s life will be in May of 2025.
