VICTORY TOWNSHIP — The West Shore Community College theater department will host auditions for the upcoming musical production of Beauty & the Beast. Auditions will be held on Sunday, Aug. 11 and Monday, Aug. 12 at WSCC’s Center Stage Theater beginning at 6 p.m. As of this time, Monday has a shorter list of participants auditioning. Director of Theater Michelle Kiessel is looking to fill 20 or more roles with people ages 10 and above as well as a full crew.
Rehearsals will begin Monday, Aug. 19 and generally run from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be 13 shows running Oct. 24 through Nov. 10, with some bonus private showings on specified dates.
Auditions will consist of three parts: Vocal, acting, and dance.
Vocal: Those auditioning should come prepared with 16-32 measures of a song that highlights vocal range. Participants should bring their own sheet music. An accompanist will be provided. Singing to tracks or acapella singing will not be permitted. Please do not choose a piece from “Beauty & the Beast.” Any classical musical theater piece will work.
Acting: Those auditioning will also be asked to cold read a selection from the script which will be provided on the day of auditions.
Dance: Participants will be taught a brief dance combination in a group setting and should come in comfortable clothing that allows for freedom of movement.
An interest form is available with frequently asked questions, character descriptions and ranges. Please read all information and fill out if interested in auditioning or participating as a crew member. Crew members do not need to audition but are required to fill out interest form. The form is located HERE.
Please contact Michelle Kiessel at mkiessel@westshore.edu with any questions regarding auditions, rehearsals, or the production.
