Man arrested on warrant while visiting inmate at jail

LUDINGTON — A 30-year-old Baldwin man was arrested on an outstanding failure to appear warrant issued in Oceana County after he showed up at the Mason County Jail to visit an inmate Saturday, July 27, around 8:40 a.m., said Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

“During a routine check of the person, Mason County Sheriff’s Office corrections deputies discovered the warrant,” said Sheriff Cole.

Tuesday, July 23, 2024:

  • 8:13 a.m., (Michigan State Police), a 30-year-old Ludington man was injured in a two-vehicle crash, 900 block of Pere Marquette Highway, Pere Marquette Township. A 67-year-old Ludington man and a 23-year-old Kalamazoo man were also involved in the crash, but were not injured.
  • 1:30 p.m., (MSP), a one-vehicle rollover crash caused a brush fire, Custer and Beyer roads, Sherman Township. No one was injured. The vehicle was driven by a 19-year-old Ludington man.

Friday, July 26, 2024:

  • 2:20 a.m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), alarm activation, City of Scottville.

Saturday, July 27, 2024:

  • 2:24 p.m., (MCSO), fraud, Wildwood Crossing, Amber Township. A victim reported being defrauded out of several thousand dollars after being asked by the caller to purchase gift cards for the caller.
  • 6:18 p.m. (MCSO), two-vehicle hit-and-run crash, no injury, US 10 and Jebavy Drive, Pere Marquette Township.
  • 7:25 p.m., (MCSO), two-vehicle crash, minor injury, Hansen and Benson roads, Branch Township.

Sunday, July 28, 2024:

  • 6:29 a.m., (MCSO), alarm activation, City of Scottville.
  • 10:02 p.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, Pere Marquette Highway north of Lattin Road, Summit Township.
