LUDINGTON — The SS Badger is currently in port while repairs are being made to its electrical system.

After departing Manitowoc Saturday afternoon, an electrical issue arose while the ship was underway to Ludington. The problem was quickly identified allowing the ship to safely continue its cross-lake operation.
“To provide safe and reliable service in the future, the ship remains in port today while engineers and electricians work to isolate the issue and correct any further electrical problems,” said Thom Hawley, spokesman for Lake Michigan Carferry.  “Lake Michigan Carferry apologizes for the inconvenience to our passengers. Once we have fully tested all of the ship’s systems, the SS Badger will resume its normal sailing schedule.”
The company’s staff is working with passengers to reschedule their trip. Those affected or have questions are encouraged to call reservationists at 800-841-4243 to make alternate travel arrangements or receive a refund.
