LUDINGTON — A 20-year-old Manistee man was arrested by Ludington police after a 21-year-old Mason County man was stabbed at a house party in the 500 block of North Emily Street shortly after 6 a.m. Saturday, June 15,
“On June 15, 2024, at approximately o6:14 hours, Ludington Police Department officers were dispatched to Corewell Hospital Ludington Hospital ER to the report of a 21-year-old Mason County male who had been stabbed several times,” states a press release from the Ludington Police Department. “The victim received initial medical treatment at Corewell Ludington and was transferred to Corewell – Grand Rapids for additional care.
“Through the course of the investigation, officers learned that there was a house party at a residence on the 500 block of N Emily Street, where the suspect, a 20-year-old male from Manistee, stabbed the victim three times, after having a verbal dispute with another subject at the party. After the assault, the suspect fled the area. LPD detectives were able to locate the suspect in Manistee and convinced him to turn himself in. LPD detectives interviewed the suspect, where he admitted to stabbing the victim twice, claiming self-defense. The suspect was taken into custody and is being charged with assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder. The suspect was transported to the Mason County Jail without incident and is currently awaiting arraignment.
