Jon Jensen
Jon Lawrence Jensen, Sr, 83, of Howard, Ohio, formerly of Manistee, died Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at Bennington Glen Nursing Home in Marengo, Ohio.
Jon was born on May 18, 1941 in Ludington, the son of the late Lawrence and Dawn (Bashaw) Jensen. He was a graduate of Ludington High School’s Class of 1959, and was a veteran of the United States Army. On August 5, 1967 he married Sharon Lea Erickson at Messiah Lutheran Church in Manistee.
Jon was a carpenter, having worked at Harbor Village in Manistee, retiring in 2003.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Danville, Ohio, and had been a member of the Jaycees. He enjoyed woodworking, camping, fishing, gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Jensen; son, Jon Jr. (Andrea) Jensen; grandchildren, Elizabeth Jensen and Jon Farris Jensen; his brother, James (Judy) Jensen; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was also preceded in death by his brother; Jerry Jensen and sisters Janet Dipple and Jeanne Zabihaylo.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Manistee with Pastor Mic Shriver officiating. Military Honors will follow. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Manistee.
