SCOTTVILLE —The Mason County District Library will host a summer gardening series for adults beginning Tuesday, June 18. Cultivating our Community is a four-part series focused on planning, planting, preserving, and pruning fruits and vegetables, and will be held on the third Tuesday of each month from June through September, at 6 p.m. at the Scottville branch library, 204 E State St.
Programs include:
- June 18, Planting Native Edible Shrubs with Symon Cronk from Mason-Lake Conservation District, teaching about the value and potential of incorporating native fruit-bearing shrubs in our home landscapes. Weather permitting, there will be a planting demonstration on the library lawn.
- July 16, Vegetable Gardening 101
- Aug. 20, Canning and Processing Fruits and Vegetables
- Sept. 17, Fruit Treet Pruning
The series is funded through a Mid-Michigan Library League project grant.
All Mason County District Library programs are free of charge.
