Fair opens Tuesday

LUDINGTON — The 2013 Western Michigan Fair opens Tuesday afternoon and continues until Saturday. We would love to share your photographs of the fair. Please post them on our Facebook page or email them to editor@masoncountypress.com. At the end of the week we will select the best picture and the winner will receive a $25 gift certificate from Chuck Wagon Pizza.

Below is the schedule of events.

Tuesday, July 23

• Midway opens at 3 p.m.

• Dollar Day – Rides $1 each, admission $1 and Family Buck Night. Beginning at 5 p.m., West Shore Bank employees handing out $1 bills to first 500 children through the gate.

• First Bite Fishing Tanks, 3 to 11 p.m., west end of Community Center

• Scottville Clown Band – 6 p.m., east end of Community Center

• Truck and tractor pulls, 7 p.m., admission – $10

• Fireworks – Free, grandstands, 10:30 p.m. Rain date: Saturday, July 27

Wednesday, July 24

• Midway opens at noon.

• Family/Kids Day, noon-5 p.m., Kids’ Day activities at 5 p.m., bike drawing at grandstands at noon. Special wristband price – $15.

• Marek Music Makers – 6 p.m., east end of Community Center.

• First Bite Fishing Tanks, noon-11 p.m., west end of Community Center.

• Mason County’s 2013 Homemaker – 6:45 p.m., east end of Community Center.

• Demo Scramble and Figure 8 Racing – 7 p.m., admission – $10, wrecker service by Quinn’s Towing.

Thursday, July 25

• Midway opens at 3 p.m. — Consumers Energy Day.

• Special kids day by Arnold Amusements for children with disabilities. (Invitation only from noon to 2 p.m.).

• First Bite Fishing Tanks, 3 to 11 p.m., west end of Community Center.

• Northern Michigan Champion Mule Pull, 2 to 4 p.m., grandstands admission – donation.

• Hay toss, 3 p.m., Dairy/Beef Barn area.

• Windwalkers, 6 p.m., east end of Community Center.

• Garden Tractor Pulls, 7 p.m., grandstands. Free admission.

Friday, July 26

• Midway opens at 3 p.m.

First Bite Fishing Tanks, 3-11 p.m., west end of Community Center.
• Pedal Pull for Kids – 5-8 p.m., free, 4-H Show/Sale Barn.

• Motocross, 7 p.m., SJO Productions, admission – $10, practice at 5:30 p.m.

Saturday, July 27

• Midway opens at noon.

• Stick Horse Rodeo, 10 a.m.-noon, free, Beef Arena.

• 4th Annual Barn Brawl – (Youth Wrestling) – 9 a.m.

• The Stampede 5k run/walk, 8:30 a.m.

• First Bite Fishing Tanks, noon-11 p.m., west end of Community Center.

• Chuck Wagon Scramble, main horse arena, 3-5 p.m. admission – donation.

• Demolition Derby – 7 p.m., Grandstands, admission – $12.
