RIVERTON TOWNSHIP — An 18-year-old Manistee man was arrested for fleeing and eluding after he attempted to outrun a Mason County sheriff’s deputy during a traffic stop for speeding on Scottville Road near Meisenheimer Road Friday, April 26, shortly before 10:30 p.m., according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.
“During the attempt to elude, the suspect reportedly shut off his headlights; fled westbound on Meisenheimer to Hogenson; and eventually stopped in a driveway,” said Sheriff Cole. He was clocked on radar going 75 mph in a 55 mph zone.

- 9:48 a.m., (LPD), a 29-year-old Ludington man was arrested at Corwell Health Ludington Hospital on charges of assault and assaulting a police officer. He was lodged in the Mason County jail.
- 12:53 p.m., (MCSO), on-vehicle crash, no injury, Quarterline Road south of Hoague Road, Grant Township. A vehicle struck a downed tree that was in the roadway.
- 3 p.m., (MCSO), retail fraud, Walmart, West US 10, Pere Marquette Township. A warrant is being sought for a 20-year-old Idlewild man.
- 3:20 p.m., (LPD), a 50-year-old Ludington man was arrested for operating while intoxicated following a traffic stop near the intersection of Ludington Avenue and Madison Street, City of Ludington. He was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
- 10:51 p.m., (LPD), a 51-year-old Ludington man was arrested for public intoxication following an incident near Ludington Avenue and Harrison Street, City of Ludington. He lodged in the Mason County Jail.
