Autism book author will be at library

LUDINGTON — The public is invited to meet local author Mary Ann Payne at an open house Saturday, Aug. 3, 1 to 3 p.m. at the Ludington library to celebrate the publication of her new book, “Hadley: A Mother’s Story of Autism and Hope”.

In the author’s words:  “This is a collection of stories that I have written over the years regarding our daughter and her autism. Using education, inspiration, and lots of humor, you will see how we were able to turn our trials into triumphs.

Over the years, as I penned my woes, my tears began to turn to laughter and I thought maybe these stories could be something to share with others.

“Hadley” tells of fortunate and not-so-fortunate events that actually took place. It is my hope for the reader to learn from our pain as well as our pleasure of living and dealing with autism. None of us plan on having adverse circumstances in our lives. Our circumstances can be out of our control, but it is how we react and respond accordingly that helps shape our lives.

You will laugh and cry as you read this true story about Hadley and our family’s struggle to live with autism and not let go of God.”

Mary Ann Payne has a master of arts in counseling and personnel and has worked as a case manager for over fifteen years. This is her first attempt at publication. She is currently a substitute teacher at Ludington High School where her daughter is enrolled in the special education program.  Mary Ann and her family are very involved in their church and one of their favorite activities is singing and playing with the praise and worship team.
