PERE MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — An investigation by the Mason County Sheriff’s Office is underway regarding allegations of multiple incidents of “under-ringing” of merchandise at Walmart by a male suspect and a female suspect, according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.
“Under ringing” typically involves scanning in cheaper items for more expensive items in the self check-out lane.
Deputies were dispatched to the store on West 10 Saturday, April 20, shortly after 3 p.m.

Friday, April 19, 2024:
- 8:57 a.m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), a 36-year-old Ludington man was arrested after he walked into the courthouse on an outstanding failure to appear warrant for reportedly skipping a sentencing hearing on a methamphetamine possession conviction, City of Ludington.
- 6:54 p.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, Sixth Street west of Pere Marquette Highway, Pere Marquette Township.
Saturday, April 20, 2024:
- 2:13 a.m., (MCSO), a 29-year-old Manistee woman was arrested on an outstanding failure to appear warrant issued in Manistee County following a traffic stop, northbound US 31 freeway south of US 10, Amber Township.
- 3:30 a.m., (MCSO), a 53-year-old Pentwater man was arrested on two outstanding failure to appear warrants — one issued by Kentwood Police Department and one issued by Ludington Police Department — and a charge of second-offense driving while license suspended (DWLS) following a traffic stop, US 10 and Meyers Road, Pere Marquette Township.
- 10:45 a.m., (MCSO), a 20-year-old Bitely man was arrested on an outstanding bench warrant issued in Mason County, 400 block of West Third Street, City of Scottville.
- 2:22 p.m., (Ludington Police Department), a 40-year-old Ludington man was arrested on an outstanding Friend of the Court warrant issued in Kent County, near the intersection of Harrison and Danaher streets, City of Ludington. He was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
- 4:23 p.m., (Michigan State Police), a 45-year-old Manistee woman was cited for operating without insurance, US 31 and Koenig Road, Grant Township.
Sunday, April 21, 2024:
- 12:33 a.m., (LPD), a 36-year-old Ludington woman was arrested on an outstanding warrant issued by Mason County’s 79th District Court, 200 block of Second Street, City of Ludington. She was lodged in the Mason County jail.
- 1:28 a.m., (LPD), a 25-year old Ludington man was arrested for domestic assault and disorderly conduct, 900 block of North Washington Avenue, City of Ludington. He was lodged in the Mason County jail.
- 1:01 p.m., (MCSO), larceny of an Xbox 360 and Nintendo Switch, Daisy Lane, Pere Marquette Township. The case remains under investigation.
- 7:42 p.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, Lakeshore Drive south of Kistler Road, Summit Township.
