Ludington officials seek strategic plan input

April 12, 2024

LUDINGTON — The City of Ludington has officially launched its five-year strategic planning process recently with opportunities for residents and businesses to share input this spring. The goals for the strategic planning process are to: garner resident and business input on community issues and city services; interview key stakeholders in the community and local government to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats; and to identify shared vision, values, and priorities for the city government for the next five years.

According to City Manager Mitch Foster, strategic planning is a benefit for organizations, including city governments, as it helps both elected officials and public employees to make decisions around prioritization of concurrent community requests; ensures healthy working relationships between City Council and city staff; and will hopefully help the City of Ludington to remain an employer of choice in an increasingly competitive hiring landscape.

City officials have partnered with Allyson Brunette Consulting, a Green Bay, Wis.-based firm that works exclusively with municipal governments and non-profit organizations. Much of the process is being completed remotely, but the consultant team will be onsite in Ludington to work with city leaders in June and July 2024. In advance of the onsite work, two surveys have been launched to gather community input.

Residents and businesses in Ludington are invited to participate in the respective surveys to share their feedback on the health of the community, their insights on municipal services, and their future desires for Ludington. The survey is online and takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. The business-facing survey focuses more on business and economic climate in the community and is slightly shorter. This survey is geared toward business owners or those in a leadership capacity in business organizations in Ludington.

The survey tools will remain open through Memorial Day, Monday, May 27, 2024.

Interested community members can learn more about the City’s strategic planning efforts on the City of Ludington website. Once the survey instruments close, summaries of the responses will be shared on the City’s website.
