VICTORY TWP. — As the West Shore Community College’s Performing Arts Series announces a new season. it is also making a big splash in the virtual reality pool. The Series will soon have a larger online presence on both Twitter and Facebook, offering more information on the events and chances for followers to win free tickets and merchandise via contests held on the those sites.
“Maintaining the social media sites and keeping the content exciting is crucial to the growth and development of the Performing Arts Series,” explains Dr. Rick Plummer, the director of the Series. ”Along with beefing up the information and content flow on the sites, we also will implement exciting new developments like contests, along with a few surprises in store for our season attendees,” Plummer teases.
The upcoming season boasts heavyweight names in the entertainment industry such as “The Verve Pipe,” with their chart-topper “The Freshmen,” performances of the gleefully campy cult classic “The Rocky Horror Show” at the Historic Ramsdell Theatre, and “Committed”- the a-capella sing-off champs.
“This season has, literally, something for everyone,” Plummer notes. “Whether it be main stage comedy in the form of Moliere’s rollicking “The Scheming of Scapin,” the smooth, smoky sounds of Cyrille Aimee, jazzing audiences directly from Paris, or a lesson in the art of Latin dance in the form of “Salsa Magic,” Western Michigan audiences will not want to miss this truly definitive season of incredible talent and theatrical experiences,” Plummer says.
Rounding out the series are season favorites by WSCC’s Concert Choir, Collegiates, Wind Symphony, Chamber Wind Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble & Jazz Band.
The series interweaves music of many varieties and theater and features nationally acclaimed, as well as, regional and local artists.
