Area under heat advisory

Most of Michigan is under a heat advisory until Thursday evening. The National Weather Service reports high temperatures this afternoon and Thursday may be in the mid-90s.

This means it’s time to head to the beach!

Here are the current conditions for the Lake Michigan shoreline and Mason County (including Pentwater) as of 11:30 a.m. today.

Lake Michigan water temperatures:

Ludington Stearns Park: 72 F

Ludington State Park (Big Sable Point): 73 F

Summit Park: 74

Pentwater: 75 F

Afternoon air temperatures:

Ludington: Sunny with temperatures reaching 85 degrees. Humidity: 67%; wind: west-southwest at 10 mph.

Scottville and Pentwater: Sunny with temperatures reaching 91 degrees. Humidity: 54%; wind: west at 12 mph.
