Daniel John Hinds, 68, formerly of Ludington, passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2024. He was born June 17, 1955, the son of James and Barbara (Brown) Hinds.
Daniel graduated from Ludington High School in 1974. While attending LHS, Daniel excelled on the track team with his specialty being the 440-yard run. He won three consecutive Seaway Conference titles, the first athlete to accomplish this feat. After high school Daniel studied architecture at West Shore Community College and earned his associate degree. Daniel lived in Texas for the past 40 years. He owned his own construction company for many years. For the past nine years, he worked at TIAA (Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association of America) as a senior customer advocate.
Daniel loved hockey and was passionate about watching his Dallas Stars. He also enjoyed a glass of good Irish whiskey and a cold Budweiser.
Daniel is survived by: his siblings, Mary Bowne, Willam Hinds, Timothy Hinds (Jeannie), Ann Schihl (Barry), Michael Hinds (Dana), Gregory Hinds and Kathleen Shillinger; his children, Tara Wynne Nelkie and Brandon Twarog (Michelle); his granddaughter, Hope Wynne Nelkie; and many nieces and nephews.
Daniel was preceded in death by: his parents; and his siblings, James Hinds Jr. and Barbara Hinds.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 6, 2024, at St. Simon Catholic Church, 702 East Bryant Road, Ludington with Father Wayne B. Wheeler presiding. Interment will follow in the Pere Marquette Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 1 p.m. until time of Mass.
