Intruders break into old schoolhouse

SUMMIT TOWNSHIP —An intruder or intruders broke into an old schoolhouse located in the 4900 block of West Lattin Road, said Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole. Two windows were broken and entry was gained into the building, said Cole.

The breaking and entering was reported to police Sunday, March 24, shortly before 4:30 p.m.

The following is other police activity over the weekend activity in Mason County:

Friday, March 22, 2024:

• 5:12 a.m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), car/deer crash, no injury, Lakeshore Drive south of Orchard Road, Pere Marquette Township.
• 6:40 a.m., (MCSO), a 37-year-old Walkerville man was arrested on an outstanding criminal bench warrant for failure to appear issued in Mason County, Oceana Drive and US 31, Summit Township.
• 8:48 a.m., (MCSO), one-vehicle crash, no injury, Camp Road north of Countyline Road, Stronach Township.
• 10:24 p.m., (Ludington Police Department), a 41-year-old Ludington man was cited for driving without a license following a traffic stop, Ludington Avenue and Emily Street, City of Ludington.

Saturday, March 23, 2024:

• 2:03 a.m., (LPD), a 44-year-old Fountain man was arrested for operating while intoxicated following a traffic stop, near Ludington Avenue and Jackson Road, City of Ludington. He was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
• 7:58 p.m., (MCSO), a 47-year-old Ludington man was arrested for operating while intoxicated following a “be on the lookout” alert for a reckless driver, US 31 freeway south of US 10, Amber Township. During a blood draw on a court order, the suspect allegedly resisted deputies and Ludington police officers at Corewell Health Ludington Hospital. He also faces a charge of assaulting/resisting/obstructing police.
• 10:54 p.m., (LPD), a 39-year-old Ludington man was arrested for domestic assault following an incident which occurred in Manistee County. He was placed under arrest and transported to Manistee County where he was turned over to the Manistee County sheriff’s deputies.

Sunday, March 24, 2024:

• 4:13 a.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, US 10 east of Schoenherr Road, Branch Township.
• 5:09 p.m., (MCSO), two-vehicle crash, no injury, US 10 west of Meyers Road, Pere Marquette Township.
• 9:51 p.m., (MCSO), car/dog crash, no injury, US 31 south of Sugar Grove Road, Sherman Township.

Monday, March 25, 2024:

• 4:38 a.m., (LPD), a 26-year-old Custer man was arrested on a warrant issued by the 79th District Court following a traffic stop in Stearns Park, City of Ludington. He was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
