Obituary: Patricia Brown, 90, of Belding
Patricia June Brown, 90, passed away Monday, January 22, 2024 at her home near Belding. The last of the River Road Originals, she was born June 18, 1933 in Fountain, the daughter of Theodore and Bessie (Smith) Englebrecht. She grew up in Scottville and, after marrying the love of her life, Vernon “Buck” Brown, moved into the house he built for them north of Belding. She called it home for 71 years. Pat had a strong faith in God, and loved her family deeply. She loved to sing to her grandchildren while they sat in the swing at her house. She loved her cats and dogs and made a wonderful fruit salad. She worked for Belding Fruit Storage for many years, and later for West Michigan Steel.
Her family would like to thank Pastor Paul Dickson of the First Baptist Church, Greenville for his ministry and West Michigan Hospice for their compassionate care. They would also to thank her friends who visited and cared for her, especially Deb Higgins, Mark Beechler, Doug White, and Janice Hartman.
Buck preceded Pat in death in 2001. She was also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Charlene Jagow; brother, Rick Englebrecht; and daughter-in-law, Sue Brown.
She is survived by her sons, Gary Brown of South Carolina and Terry (Brenda) Brown of Belding; grandchildren, Corey (Sheri) Ommen of Cheboygan, Nick (Monica) Sanders of Tennessee, Derek (Carrie) Brown of South Carolina, Sam (Brady) Brown of Cheboygan, Codey (Shaquilla) Brown of South Carolina, Jasmine Duran of Grand Rapids, Alyssa (Luke) Allen of South Carolina, and Joey Bermudez of Belding; 20 great-grandchildren, brother, Robert (Doris) Englebricht of Paradise; and godson, Lige Skinner.
