Two stolen vehicles set on fire

The Mason County Sheriff’s Office recently investigated two separate cases of stolen vehicles that were set on fire.

The first incident occurred Friday, Jan. 19, shortly before 5:30 a.m. in the 5700 block of West US 10 in Pere Marquette Township when sheriff’s deputies recovered a 2005 Infiniti passenger vehicle “after responding to a vehicle fire behind a strip mall,” said Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole. “It was discovered the vehicle had been reported stolen out of the City of Ludington.” The case will be turned over to Ludington Police Department, said Cole.

The second incident was reported Sunday, Jan. 21, shortly before 1:30 p.m. in the 3000 block of North US 31 in Victory Township. “The complainant reported the theft of a Ford plow truck. The vehicle was recovered in Allegan County — when found it, was destroyed and had been burned,” said Sheriff Cole. The case remains under investigation by the Mason County Sheriff’s Office and the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office.
