Deputies investigate suspect for ‘under ringing’ $270 in Walmart merchandise

PERE MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP —Mason County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a retail fraud/shoplifting case at Walmart on US 10 involving a female suspect for allegedly “under ringing” over $270 in merchandise, said Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.
The crime was reported Sunday, Jan. 14, shortly before 1:30 p.m. The suspect left the store before deputies arrived, said Sheriff Cole.
“Under ringing” typically involves scanning in cheaper items for more expensive items in the self check-out lane.
