Local Creativity Shines Light on Behavioral Health Awareness

West Michigan Community Mental Health (WMCMH) recently had a Consumer Artwork Event to bring awareness to behavioral health (mental health, substance use, and intellectual and developmental disabilities) where artists could share through art what behavioral health has meant to them.

Over 40 extraordinary art pieces were submitted by gifted individuals, each piece telling a unique story. These works of art adorn the walls of the boardroom in each main location in Lake, Mason and Oceana Counties, creating a visual testament to the strength, and resilience within the community.

A heartfelt thank you is extended to all the artists whose creativity has made this project a success. Their willingness to share personal stories through art not only enriches the communities cultural landscape but also serves as a powerful tool for breaking down stigmas associated with behavioral health challenges.

Acknowledging the crucial and instrumental role played by the WMCMH Consumer Advisory Panel (CAP), WMCMH expressed deep gratitude for their dedication and help in organizing and assembling the artwork for display. This project not only emphasizes the therapeutic power of art but also brings awareness to mental health, substance use and intellectual and developmental disabilities.
