MCP and OCP: Your LOCAL news sources
Mason County Press and Oceana County Press continue to be your source of free local news. We have a small, but dedicated team that believes covering the news requires not only experience in journalism but familiarity with the communities that we cover.
Our full time staff consists of Editor-in-Chief and Owner Rob Alway and News Editor Allison Scarbrough. Both Rob and Allison grew up in this area and have had careers that each have expanded over 35 years covering local news.
Rob is a graduate of Mason County Central High School, West Shore Community College and Grand Valley State University. Allison is a graduate of Montague High School, Western Michigan University and Davenport University.
We are proud that Mason County Press and Oceana County Press are locally owned and provide you news and information for free. Our services are completely supported through advertisers, sponsorships and community members.
You hear a lot about the importance of shopping local, especially this time of year. Remember, when you go to a business that is not owned locally, much of the money you spend leaves the area. This is the same when — whether you are an advertiser or a subscriber — you support media that is not locally owned.
We grew up here. We live here. And, we invest our money here. Local. We are also involved in our communities. We think that’s important too.
We often hear from readers that MCP and OCP are their main sources, especially for breaking news. We appreciate that and we are committed to continuing to be your top choice.
