Man, 74, sustains minor injury when deer jumps through windshield

BRANCH TOWNSHIP — A 74-year-old Fountain man suffered a minor injury after a deer jumped through the windshield of his vehicle on US 10 east of First Street Saturday, Nov. 11, around 7 p.m., according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

• 6:58 a.m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), car/deer crash, no injury, Lincoln Road south of Maple Road, Hamlin Township.
• 5:43 p.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, Lakeshore Drive north of Kistler Road, Summit Township.
• 6:28 p.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, Jebavy Drive south of Dewey Road, Hamlin Township.
• 8:55 p.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, US 31 north of Beyer Road, Sherman Township.
• 9:42 p.m., (Ludington Police Department), a 60-year-old homeless man was arrested for public intoxication, 100 block of South James Street, City of Ludington. He was lodged in Mason County Jail.

Saturday, Nov. 11, 2023:

• 12:14 a.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, Manales Road east of Stephens Road, Sherman Township.
• 2:28 a.m., (LPD), a 62-year-old Ludington woman was arrested for operating while intoxicated, Lakeshore Drive and Fitch Street, City of Ludington. He was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
• 4:59 a.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, Jebavy Drive south of Dewey Road, Hamlin Township.
• 5:55 a.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, Scottville Road north of Wilson Road, Custer Township.
• 7:10 p.m., (Michigan State Police), a 32-year-old Custer man was arrested for operating while intoxicated, 2700 block of Wilson Road, Custer Township. He was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
• 7:18 p.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, Chauvez Road west of Morton Road, Riverton Township.
• 8:21 p.m. (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, Lakeshore Drive north of Robert Road, Hamlin Township.
• 8:45 p.m., (MCSO), one-vehicle crash, no injury, Sugar Grove Road east of Darr Road, Sherman Township.
• 10:06 p.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, US 31 south of Beyer Road, Sherman Township.

No activity over the weekend was reported by the Scottville Police Department.
