LPD warns of scam impersonating officer

LUDINGTON — The Ludington Police Department is warning residents of a scam in which a Ludington police officer is being impersonated.

“Captain Steve Wietrzykowski is not calling people to let them know they have warrants for their arrest, etc.,”  said Cpt. Wietrzykowski. “This is a scam. We have received several phone calls to the police department from concerned people wanting to know more about the phone calls they received from the actual LPD phone number. That is a good thing that they are following up to verify the phone call before doing anything else. Always verify phone calls, texts, emails that don’t seem quite right.”

The police news is a presentation of Smith & Eddy Insurance, serving west Michigan since 1902, smith-eddy.com.
