Thief/thieves steal fruit from roadside stand
RIVERTON TOWNSHIP — A thief or thieves stole fruit from a roadside stand located in the 3400 block of West Deren Road, according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole. The larceny was reported Friday, Aug. 4, at 7:45 p.m.
A larceny theft of a money box from a fruit stand in the same location was reported, July 31.

- 11:53 a.m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), two-vehicle crash, no injury, Gordon and Johnson roads, Amber Township.
- 3:08 p.m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), alarm activation, Grant Township.
- 5:23 p.m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), two-vehicle crash, minor injury, Johnson Road and Jebavy Drive, Pere Marquette Township.
Saturday, Aug. 5, 2023:
- 12:37 a.m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), a 44-year-old Baldwin man was arrested on two outstanding Friend of the Court warrants issued in Branch and Lake counties following a traffic stop, U S10 and Benson Road, Branch Township.
- 2:19 a.m., (Ludington Police Department), a 46-year-old Ludington woman was cited for driving while license suspended, 900 block of East Ludington Avenue, City of Ludington.
- 5:45 a.m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), car/deer crash, no injury, US 31 north of Hansen Road, Custer Township.
- 3:30 p.m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), two-vehicle crash, no injury, eastbound US 10 off-ramp and northbound US 31, Amber Township.
- 7:17 p.m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), a 19 year-old Ludington man was arrested on an outstanding Mason County warrant for failure to appear following a traffic stop, US 10 and Custer Road, Custer Township.
- 7:36 p.m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), a warrant for retail fraud/shoplifting is being requested for a 23-year-old Ludington woman following a reported theft at Walmart, 4800 block of West US 10, Pere Marquette Township.
- 8:51 p.m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), a warrant is being requested for a 20-year-old Baldwin man following an investigation of retail fraud, Walmart, 4800 block of West US 10, Pere Marquette Township.
- 10:28 p.m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), larceny, Wesco Eastgate, 5600 block of West US 10, Pere Marquette Township. A case remains under investigation following a reported theft of liquor.
- 10:30 p.m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), a 27-year-old Fountain man was cited for driving while license suspended following a traffic stop, US 10 and Benson Road, Branch Township.
Sunday, Aug. 6, 2023:
- 4:02 a.m., (LPD), a 26-year-old Ludington woman was arrested for operating while intoxicated First and Sherman streets, City of Ludington. She was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
- 10 a.m., (Michigan State Police), a 38-year-old Fountain man was arrested on charges of domestic violence and interfering with an electronic communications device, 3000 block of Victory Drive, Victory Township. He was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
- 1:35 p.m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), hit-and-run crash, no injury, Lake Michigan Recreational Area parking lot, Grant Township.
- 3:15 p.m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), car/bobcat crash, no injury, Darr Road north of Washington Road, Eden Township.
- 5:19 p.m., (LPD), a 36-year-old Ludington man was arrested for public intoxication and for probation violation, 200 block of South James Street, City of Ludinton. He was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
