Obituary: Wayne Goerbig, 71, of Scottville
Wayne Arthur Goerbig, 71, passed away on May 19, 2023, in Grand Rapids.
Wayne was born on August 25, 1951, in Rothbury, to Phyllis and the late Julius Goerbig. Wayne took pride in his masonry and carpentry work throughout his career, later working for Habitat for Humanity, which fulfilled his building and carpentry passions as he eased into retirement.
Wayne was an avid pool player with a precision break shot and a mean bank. He loved to be in his vegetable garden during the summer and always could be found tinkering with projects around the house whenever possible. His hobbies included gardening, building projects, and pool playing.
Wayne is survived by his mother, Phyllis Goerbig; brothers Michael and Edwin Goerbig and their spouses and children; his daughter Anne Miller, her husband Joseph Miller, and their children Ella and Louis Miller; Jennifer Goerbig-Campbell, her husband Dwayne Campbell, and their children Logan, Taylon, Max, and Torin Campbell; Kelly Goerbig, his wife Pow Goerbig, and their daughter Olivia Goerbig; Melissa Goerbig-Frizzell, her husband Brian Frizzell, and their children Michael and Philip Frizzell.
Wayne was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Penny Goerbig; father Julius Goerbig; and brother Joel Goerbig.
A graveside service will take place for close family and friends on Saturday, June 24 at 11:30 a.m. at North Victory Township Cemetery, followed by a 1:30 p.m. memorial to celebrate Wayne at Scottville Riverside Park. All are welcomed!
