Obituary: Robert Cloutier, 85, of Ludington.
Robert “Bob” Donald Cloutier, 85, of Ludington, died Sunday, July 31, 2022, at home. He was born August 17, 1936, in Harbor Beach, Michigan, the son of Alex and Lillian (Cray) Cloutier.
Bob worked as a service tech in propane distribution for over 30 years until retiring in 1998. In his spare time, Bob was an avid hunter using both rifle and bow. He enjoyed making his own arrows and bowstrings, as well as reloading his own rifle and shotgun shells. He was a great woodworker, crafting many projects including furniture for his family and friends. He also liked working on his model planes. Bob loved playing games, especially Kismet and Cribbage.
Bob was an active member of St. Simon Catholic Church in Ludington.
Bob is survived by: his children, Carol (Ken) Wagner of Cedar Springs, Cinda (Michael) Sobanksi of Ludington, Christy (Jay) Hemker of Ludington, and Robert (Kathleen) Cloutier Jr. of Ludington; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and his sister, Marlene Davidson of Scottville.
On October 25, 1958, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, in Manistee, Bob married Alice Jankowski, who preceded him in death on July 3, 2021. He was also preceded in death by: his parents; and his brothers, Alex Cloutier Jr., and Vincent Cloutier.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Thursday, August 4, 2022, at St. Simon Catholic Church, in Ludington, with Father Wayne B. Wheeler presiding. Interment will be in the Pere Marquette Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 3, 2022, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, Pere Marquette Chapel, where the Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice of Michigan, the American Lung Association, or a charity of one’s choice.
