SCOTTVILLE — A Scottville man wanted on felony warrants fought with police officers attempting to arrest him, adding two more felony charges to his list of offenses, Monday evening, Feb. 21, according to Scottville Police Chief Matt Murphy

“The Scottville Police Department has arrested and obtained a warrant for a Scottville man during an incident that took place last night on the 300 block of East Broadway,” said Chief Murphy.

“The individual had felony warrants out of another county. The individual was located at his residence and became noncompliant with officers. The officers on scene attempted to place the individual under arrest, and he began to fight with officers. After a physical struggle, the officers were able to gain control of the subject and place him under arrest. The subject was transported to the Mason County Jail where he was lodged and is awaiting arraignment.”

The Scottville Police Department was assisted by the Michigan State Police and the Mason County Sheriff’s Office. Neither the suspect nor the police officers were injured during the incident.

The man now faces two charges of assaulting/resisting/obstructing police, along with a count of third-offense habitual offender.
