Courthouse continues mask mandate.
LUDINGTON — The Mason County Courthouse continues to have a limited access, along with a security guard monitoring visitors, asking COVID-19 questions, and requiring visitors to the public building to wear masks. The requirement continues though Gov. Whitmer earlier this week lifted mask mandates throughout the state. The mandates had been imposed by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.
“We take our guidance from the Supreme Court and State Court Administrative Office, not the governor,” said Mason County Probate Judge Jeff Nellis, who is Mason County’s chief judge. ” They just changed their requirements a couple of days ago. We still consult the health department. We are working on a change as we speak.”
Nellis was referring to District Health Department No. 10, which follows the guidelines of the MDHHS. While the courthouse is requiring visitors to wear masks, employees of the courthouse can be seen not wearing masks in their workspaces.
