LUDINGTON – The Ludington Area Schools Board of Education has narrowed its superintendent search down to six candidates. The candidates include Dan Mesyar, Ludington High School assistant principal; Andrea Large, Franklin Elementary principal and Michael Ritter, Foster Elementary principal.
The board of education met Monday afternoon in closed session to discuss narrowing down the list of candidates. Following the closed session it took action on the six finalists.
Other candidates include Karen Sherwood, superintendent/K-12 adminstrator of Boyne Falls Public Schools; Ryle Kiser, Peck Community Schools superintendent and Richard Heitmeyer, Buckley Community Schools superintendent.
Three special board meetings, open to the public, will be held with the following schedule:
Thursday, March 14: Mesyar, 4 p.m.; Large, 5:30 p.m.
Tuesday, March 19: Ritter, 4 p.m.; Sherwood, 6 p.m.
Wednesday, March 20: Kiser, 4 p.m.; Heitmeyer, 6 p.m.
The successful candidate will replace Cal DeKuiper who resigned from the school district in January to accept a superintendent’s position with Zeeland Public Schools.
