Homeless man arrested on felony assault warrant.

LUDINGTON — A 50-year-old homeless man was arrested Saturday, May 16, shortly after 12:30 p.m. by Ludington Police Department for a felony warrant of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder. Duane Broughton was found on a park bench, according to LPD.
The charge stems from an incident that occurred March 13, 2020 in the area of James and Court streets, said Ludington Police Chief Timothy Kozal.
“There was a mutual argument that escalated to Broughton stabbing the victim,” Kozal said. The victim, who is a 37-year-old man, was treated and released for “a small stab wound to the thigh area,” said Chief Kozal.
Broughton has been arraigned on the charge in 79th District Court. A probable cause hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on May 27. Bail was set at $5,000, personal recognize.
