Frustrated with the lack of depth in her pastel paintings, Carol Marshall decided to incorporate strips of leather and fell in love. She considers her technique “painting with fabric” and enjoys exploring new sewing styles and textiles. Recently, she started printing her art quilts on canvas bags to provide a more affordable option for customers to enjoy her pieces. She will be selling the bags and providing art quilt classes at the Ludington Area Center for the Arts. You can learn more about Carol and her art quits at facebook.com/yannidesigns.

“Maker” the word according to Merriam-Webster means, “one who makes” and according to Urban Dictionary, “those who love to create things in their spare time.”

Mason County Press and Oceana County Press are looking around the local areas to find those who consider themselves Makers. Whether they make things for a living or as a hobby, we will uncover many who have a passion for creating things with their hands and sharing those items with the world.
