VICTORY TOWNSHIP — Graphic arts is one of the most popular courses offered by the West Shore Educational Service District’s Career Technical Education program. Recently, teacher Brian Lacombe received a request from ESD social worker Kristi Glanville to see if his class could modify the popular game “Operation.”
“It is for emotional regulation to help students identify how their bodies are responding to stress and anxiety,” Glanville said. “Recognizing these cues can help students realize when they are starting to get upset. This is the first step in recognizing they need to use a coping strategy to help manage their behaviors.”
Lacombe had just the right student; second year student Morgan Fricke, a senior at Mason County Central High School, took on the project.
Check out the video to see how Morgan accomplished the changes to the game.
The West Shore Educational Service District is funded through the support of taxpayers in Mason, Lake, and Oceana counties.
