Jury watches police interview with defendant

February 27, 2013

LUDINGTON — The trial of Mark McCallum is in its third day. McCallum is charged with kidnapping his children while he was separated from his now ex-wife. He took his children out of state, ending in Key West.

McCallum, who is defending himself, has been trying to prove that he took his children in order to protect them from alleged abuse from their mother, a claim that was disproven by Child Protective Services.

His defense was weakened this afternoon as the jury watched the sheriff’s department interview with McCallum from last March. In that interview he claims to have had money issues and was trying to blow up his house because his wife was going to get everything in the divorce.
