Ludington man charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor

lewis, FredrickCUSTER TWP. – Frederick James Lewis, a 31 year old Ludington man, was arrested by a trooper
from the Michigan State Police Hart Post Tuesday, Feb. 12. He was charged on two counts of criminal sexual conduct (CSC) first degree.

Lewis was arraigned on Wednesday, Feb. 13 in the 79th District Court of Ludington. His bond has been set at $25,000.00 cash.

In January of this year, Michigan State Police troopers began a CSC investigation involving Lewis. Lewis is suspected of having an inappropriate relationship with a victim under the age of 13. The investigation alleges that Lewis was involved with the victim from 2003 to 2006. Trooper’s determined that the relationship occurred at a home in Mason County’s Custer Township.

At the conclusion of the investigation, the facts of the case were presented to the Mason County
Prosecutor’s Office for review. Ultimately, a two count warrant for CSC first degree was issued for the arrest of Lewis by the 79th District Court of Ludington. Criminal sexual conduct first
degree is a felony punishable by up to life in prison, but not less than 25 years.
