LUDINGTON – The Ludington Area Convention & Visitors Bureau board of directors have announced the appointment of Brandy Henderson as the organization’s executive director. Henderson has been working at the CVB since April 2012 as director of marketing. Kathy Maclean, interim Executive Director (and president/CEO of the Ludington and Scottville Area Chamber of Commerce), will remain involved with the organization providing financial and staffing oversight.
“The Ludington Area Convention & Visitors Bureau has matured as an organization over the last year and has accomplished so much” said Maclean. “I am thrilled to have Brandy move into the executive director position. She is the right person to lead the organization and continue to grow the tourism economy in Mason County”.
Henderson is a a 2006 graduate of Ludington High School and received a bachelor’s degree from Grand Valley State University, with a major in advertising and public relations. Henderson, who is the daughter of Ludington Mayor John Henderson, has been actively involved in the community and has previously worked for the Ludington and Scottville Area Chamber of Commerce as well as the Downtown Ludington board handling marketing, communications and event coordination for both organizations.
“I am so honored to be part of the leadership within the organization and excited to work with the Board of Directors, membership and community as whole to become a top destination for visitors” Henderson said.
The CVB is the official tourism and marketing organization of Mason County and is also responsible for the “Pure Ludington” campaign. It is funded by a room tax accessed to all local motels and resorts, along with membership dues.
