REMUS — Wrestlers from Ludington and Mason County Central high schools competed at Chippewa Hills High School in the Michigan High School Athletic Association District Wrestling tournament on Saturday. Ten of those who competed will be moving on to the regional competition next week at Kingsley.
Ludington’s Dylan Sorensen was the lone winner at 215 pounds, while MCC’s Spencer Knizacky at 140 lbs. and Josh Quinn at 189 pounds each finished second place. Finishing third from Mason County Central were Trevor Skinner at 119 pounds, Logan Merrick at 135 pounds, Jarod Alvesteffer at 171 pounds, and Doug Wyman at 285 pounds.
Ludington’s Ryan Miston finished third at 215 pounds. Qualifying with a fourth place finish were MCC’s Justin Steiger at 160 pounds, and Jordan Steiger at 145 pounds.
Mason County Central will also compete against Freeland on Wednesday in Houghton Lake at the Team Regional competition. The other side of the bracket will feature Chippewa Hills vs. Standish Sterling, with the winners facing each other in the Regional final immediately following.
