February 3, 2013

VICTORY TOWNSHIP – Jason Lee Brady, 35, of Manistee, was arrested on the charges of domestic violence and illegal entry. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Michigan State Police and Mason County Sheriff’s Department following an assault that took place in a vehicle as it traveled on Fountain Road near U.S. 31 Friday night.

According to a press released from the Michigan State Police Hart Post, the on-scene investigation determined Brady had assaulted a woman as the vehicle they were in traveled the roadway. Ultimately the victim was able to stop the vehicle and gain the attention of other motorists.

Fountain Area Fire Department first responders and Life EMS were called to the scene to assist the victim, who was transported to Memorial Medical Center and treated for injuries sustained as a result of the assault.

Brady was arrested near the scene, lodged in the Mason County Jail and then arraigned Saturday with bond set at $5,000 cash. He was on probation at the time of his arrest and this is his third offense of domestic violence. Domestic violence third offense is a felony punishable by up to five years in prison and/or a $5,000 fine. Illegal entry is a misdemeanor punishable by up to 90 days in jail.
